Jessica Topor, MA, LMFT
Hello! My name is Jessica Topor. I have a license in Marriage and Family Therapy.
My Therapy: My therapy focuses on the person as they exist in their many roles. This means that I believe a person faces issues or challenges in life because of a conflict that exists between roles they hold. Thus, I work with not only individuals, but also with couples and families. I also hold a belief that growth happens through doing, thus, my therapy has an experiential component to allow clients to be an active part of their change and growth.
About Me: I have my PhD in Human Development and Family Studies with a specialization in Couple and Family Therapy at Michigan State University. I completed my Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Michigan State in 2011. My work there, both research and clinically, is driven by an interest in family dynamics that exist. I have a particular interest in the family dynamics around sibling relationships as well as in dynamics around having a family member who has been diagnosed with a developmental disability. I also specialize in work with adolescents. In addition, I completed the Sign Language Interpreters Program at Oakland Community College. I am working to complete my certificate to become a certified interpreter.
